Associations

DefinitionAn association is a group of people organized for a joint purpose.  Often, but not always, there is a membership fee.  Associations, unlike clubs, usually have a wider geographic scope.  Many have their own publication to encourage members to develop their knowledge and skills.  Some associations, like the NMRA, offer their members features such as benefits like cheaper insurance rates, conventions, product discounts, and more.
