October 16, 2021: St. Thomas Tailgate Meet and Museum Tour
George Dutka, Program Director, coordinated a Tailgate Meetup in the Elgin County Railway Museum.. Roughly 18 members and guests attended. Following the Meetup, we had a tour of the Museum (including its HO Scale layout) and the BX Tower. The attendees were able to walk around and enjoy the “one-to-one” scale equipment. The attendees were encouraged to bring what they have been working on for others to see as well as items for sale. George also put on a clinic ‘How to Model a Tar Paper Roof’.

George Dutka, Program Director, and Superintendent Paul Hurly organized a ‘Tailgate Meet and Museum Tour’ in St. Jacob’s following COVID-19 protocols. This was the first in-person meet since the start of the pandemic. 12 attended. Two of the attendees were from the International Division and one came from the Central Division. There were lots of displays and train stuff to purchase. There were 10 raffle prizes as well.
In addition to the ‘Tailgate Meet’, an After Hours tour of the St. Jacobs & Aberfoyle Model Railway was given. This included a ‘behind-the-scenes’ look.
George also visited the Waterloo Central Railway while in St Jacobs. Due to COVID protocols, which limited attendance, WOD members were unable to attend the Railway facility as a group. The following are great shots of the ALCO smoke from the train.
